Camille Edwards has worked for
many great bosses. Her media career spanned over 30 years and she worked in big
markets for different companies.
While she learned a lot of great
things from her supervisors, she also learned things not to do.
If you have a bad boss, what can
you do?
According to Edwards, you have to
assess the situation fully. “You have to figure out the best way to communicate
with your bad boss.” If they like to get emails, then send emails. If they like
to be updated in person, schedule a weekly standing meeting to make sure it
happens consistently.
The worst thing you can do is to
ignore a bad boss. Camille Edwards advises the best thing is to stay close to
your bad boss.
“It sucks, but the more contact
you have will help you manage the situation better,” says Edwards.
The more you know, the better off
you will be in the long run. Ask your bad boss a lot of questions, so he or she
knows you are interested in what they think. “Always ask for feedback,” says
Edwards. You don’t want any surprises.
